Jeff Young grew up in Pitt Meadows, the son of Don and Arlene Young. His family has deep roots in Pitt Meadows, with a legacy of community involvement dating back to 1925. His grandfather, Oscar Austring, was a former councillor and major.
Jeff graduated from Pitt Meadows Secondary School in 1999. He was known for his love of hockey and his wide circle of friends. After earning his degree in Criminology from Simon Fraser University, Jeff built a life with his daughter Mikayla and her mother Melissa.
After a brief and valiant battle with cancer, Jeff Young passed away on October 19, 2019. This annual golf tournament ensures that Jeff’s memory will live on — celebrating his life, his spirit, and the lasting impact he made on those who knew him.
Each year, proceeds from the Jeff Young Memorial Golf Tournament are directed toward causes that reflect Jeff’s values and the things that mattered most to him. Funds raised support the Jeff Young Memorial Scholarship Fund at Pitt Meadows Secondary School, which helps local students pursue their educational goals and carry forward Jeff’s legacy within the community. The tournament also contributes to the Mikayla Young Trust Fund, supporting Jeff’s daughter and ensuring that his love and commitment to family continue to make a lasting impact. An additional local cause will also be chosen for next year’s tournament — stay tuned for details.
On June 26, 2026, we’ll gather once again at Meadow Gardens Golf Course for a 1:00 p.m. shotgun start — to golf, to connect, and to celebrate Jeff’s memory. Get your tickets today!
The Jeff Young Memorial Society was established to celebrate the life of Jeff Young and continue his legacy of kindness, connection, and community support through charitable events.
